(And months later I finally see this ask) I am actually not sure what ib is, so I probably just thought the picture was pretty. But… explain it to me and I might watch/read/play/eat it. It’s the thing with the guy with the cute purple/white-ish hair, right? The thing that has something to do with soviet Russia?
this is what you get for only checking tumblr once in a blue moon and not scrolling down all the way when you do, stef
ib is a video game i was very very into for a while several weeks ago! it is about a little girl who gets trapped in a terrifying art gallery and must solve puzzles to escape it. along the way she meets garry, the guy with cute purple hair. it does not actually have anything to do with soviet russia, i just couldn’t think of a better tag for it.
it is available for legitimate free download here, and it takes about 2-4 hours depending on how terrible you are at puzzles. (there is no shame whatsoever in needing a walkthrough for the sketchbook level. you will see.) alternately, if you are not confident of your ability to play a game that i, who am terrible at video games, managed to play, there are quite a few let’s plays out there, the best of which is probably markiplier, who, while initially getting one of the bad endings (there are many endings), goes back and gets the good one. (there is only one good one. of nine.)
i like this game kind of a lot. it isn’t very difficult, except for the goddamn sketchbook level, and the story and characters are surprisingly compelling. the graphics ain’t much, but that’s just the nature of the medium. the music’s pretty good too, and the overall atmosphere is just really well-done.
so, you know
you could play it
or watch it
if you wanted to
Thanks! It looks fun. I am downloading it now. I’ll let you know when I’ve finished it/determined that I will not be able to finish it and given up in despair/am prevented from finishing it due to alien interference.
